Insurance is traditionally understood as a mechanism for transferring the financial consequences of risk. But can it also contribute to changing the underlying environmental risk itself?
The article “Beyond Risk Transfer—Rethinking the Role of Green Insurance in Sustainability Policy” explores this question by reconsidering the role that insurance may play in supporting environmental and sustainability objectives.
Together with Prof. Adam Śliwiński, I have published a new article exploring the origins and development of insurance education at SGH Warsaw School of Economics between 1906 and 1939.
The article, “Ahead of Its Time. The Emergence of Insurance Education at the Warsaw School of Economics (1906–1939)”, examines how insurance emerged as a distinct field of academic education at SGH and places this development in a broader international context.
How does digitalisation reshape the architecture of insurance markets? Why is innovation in this sector primarily driven by processes rather than products? And what do artificial intelligence, big data, and on-demand models mean for the future of insurance as we know it?
How did insurance education become an integral part of the academic landscape at SGH Warsaw School of Economics? What intellectual currents and institutional decisions shaped its development over more than a century? And what does this legacy tell us about the broader relationship between knowledge, economics, and uncertainty?

The chapter shows the possibility of analyzing the insurance market by using the Rothschild–Stiglitz equilibrium model and its subsequent modifications. As an example the Polish market of compulsory third party liability insurance was used.
